Adult Education

ADULT FORUM |  Sundays @ 9:00am

We have for many years offered an hour of stimulating, meaningful programming for adults in our church family on Sunday mornings from 9:00-10:00am in the Meeting Place or Fellowship Hall.

Our purpose has been to encourage ourselves to ask the questions rather than force the answers, learn from one another and to become better informed, more compassionate members of our church and the larger community.   We do this through presenting transformative opportunities that focus on a broad range of historical and contemporary topics and issues such as:

  • issues of faith, including controversial topics
  • learning about other faith traditions
  • theology
  • Bible study, applications of biblical teachings
  • the place of the visual arts, music and history in religion
  • physical and mental health, wellness, meditation
  • gender identity, sexual orientation
  • community outreach organizations
  • social justice issues such as racism, food insecurity, housing, immigration
  • opportunities for service

We have used a number of book studies and video series in our sessions and welcome suggestions for programming.

Seeking to maintain a sense of community within our group, we are intentional about creating an inclusive environment where everyone is welcome to share ideas openly and have a turn facilitating discussion.  Routinely we have “Getting to Know You” sessions which create opportunities for us to know one another at a deeper level.  Everyone’s story is important; everyone is welcome to share in this way.
